On Mavericks' struggles against better teams:
Parsons: “Well, you worry about every loss. You want to win as many games as possible and you obviously want to be able to compete with the elite teams and the better teams every year. It’s not great that we’re not beating these teams that are upper-echelon teams and we’re going to have plenty of opportunity. Our schedule is picking up here and we’re going to start playing these elite teams so to be one of the better teams you have to knock off these teams. Our record is solid, but like you said, we haven’t played the toughest schedule yet so we have a lot of work to do and a lot to prove. Every day we have a chance to come to the arena and get better so we’re going to continue to do that.”
On what spurred his current hot streak:
Parsons: “Just sticking with it, man. I’ve been playing basketball for a really long time and you’re going to have ups and downs. Every player goes through slumps. I think for me, just being in a new situation with a new team, new coach, everything’s just different. It’s a process. It’s going to take a while to adjust. I’m not saying I’m going to average 26 points from here on out for the rest of this season, but I’m getting more comfortable every single day with my shot. I’m trying to shoot the same shot every single time, make sure it’s not flat, watching a lot of film, getting in extra work when I can and staying confident. My teammates believe in me and my coaches believe in me and I’ve got to be a big part of our offense for us to get where we need to get to.”
