The Miami Heat have been granted the Disabled Player Exception by the NBA due to the season ending knee injury to F Josh McRoberts. The Heat will have $2.65 million of cap space that can be used in the following three ways by March 10th.
-- Signing a free agent to a one-year contract for the full value of the exception or less.
-- Acquiring a player with an expiring contract off waivers who is due $2.65 million or less this season.
-- Trading for a player in the final year of a contract who is earning $2.75 million (the allowable $100,000 differential in a trade) and is in the final season of a contract.
