Pelicans to inquire about Monroe

The New Orleans Pelicans are said to be interested in exploring a sign and trade with soon to be free agent Greg Monroe. The Pelicans and Detroit Pistons are prohibited from discussing any deal until July 1st but Monroe has indicated that he's already spoke with Stan Van Gundy, the new Pistons President of Basketball Operations about his future. If Van Gundy were to trade Monroe to the Pelicans, it more than likely would include Ryan Anderson who was a favorite of Van Gundy when he coached the Orlando Magic.
“I’ve been in communication with Van Gundy,” Monroe said. “I met with him and he understands the position I am in right now and I am going to go through the process. I haven’t met (new general manager Jeff) Bower yet. But I have met with Van Gundy and have kept in constant contact with him through text messages."
