Tonight's finale against the Indiana Pacers for the Orlando Magic may be G Jameer Nelson's last game with the franchise. Nelson is about to complete the 2nd year of his 3 year contract with the franchise where he is owed $8 million next season. If the Magic were to waived Nelson before July 15th, the Franchise would only owe Nelson $2 million, saving the franchise $6 million. Nelson recently acknowledged that tonight's game may be his last with the franchise.
"I'm very cognizant it could be my last home game," Nelson said. "It's not up to me. It's up to the team. It's the team's option. I would like to still be here and finish my career here. I have a lot more years left in me. Good years. I'm not sure what they have in store for me, but I'm just going to play it out and see what happens. Like I said, it's just one of those things. I don't have control over it. I don't know what their thoughts are right now.
"I have kids, so I'm worried about it. That's the biggest thing for me. My family is more important to me than anything. I just want to be treated the right way. I want to be treated fair. I want to be treated the right way. I feel like I'm a guy of loyalty, so I just want everybody that's involved in my life and in the organization to be loyal to me."
