The Brooklyn Nets have announced that they have plans to retire the jersey of new head coach Jason Kidd. Kidd played for the then New Jersey Nets between the years of 2001-08 and is the franchises all-time leader in assists, steals, and 3-pointers made. Kidd also led the franchise to back to back NBA Finals in 03 & 04. Reports show that Kidd's jersey will be retired on October 17th prior to a nationally televised preseason game against the 2 time defending NBA Champion Miami Heat. Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov stated the following:
"As one chapter closes, another will soon be written and I know we are all looking forward to Jason's continued successes."
