Recently Brooklyn Nets F Paul Pierce spoke to Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe about Rajon Rondo and his ability to be a franchise player in Boston.
“Without question [he can be the man in Boston],” Pierce said. “I’ve already talked to Rajon; Rajon’s mature. People talk about the relationship with Doc [Rivers], and they probably had their best years over the last two years. So I don’t think that was a reason for Doc leaving. I’ve heard that, but that wasn’t a reason for Doc not coming back....Rondo is one of the best players in the league. He’s a guy who can be the face of a franchise. He’s won a championship, he’s been an All-Star. There’s a lot of organizations who don’t even have a face of that caliber."
“I definitely think he’s matured and can handle a lot. I talked to him and he’s ready for the challenge. He knows that it’s his team. He knows he has to be a leader, and from being around me and Kevin [Garnett] and seeing how we work....Rondo’s got to understand he’s got to put responsibility on some of the other guys,” Pierce said. “Maybe like a Brandon Bass or some of the older players. It’s hard when it comes from just one guy. There’s got to be other guys who command respect on the team, that help out with that role.”
I definitely think rondo is up for the challenge. Dude always has a chip on his shoulder like most of the great players do and if he can get back from that injury fast enough I wouldn't count Boston out of the playoffs either. U know him and Jeff green gonna ball, and they might have gotten a steal wit Kelly olinyk or howeva u spell it
ReplyDeleteAnd ainge ran everybody off not rondo. Why n the hell would doc want to go thru a 2nd rebuilding process n Boston??
DeleteRondo spent so much time around Doc, KG, and Truth, he's learned a lot. On top of that, he'll learn a lot about determination coming off this injury. He'll be an All Star this year, and I think we can make it in the playoffs realistically between 6 and 8 seed.
ReplyDeleteI agree. People don't realize that its been Rondo's team for 2 seasons now. Boston has a lot of young talent and guys who have already built a playing bond. I think boston is going to suprise a lot of people this season.
ReplyDeleteanyway this kid can b such strong player/coach as jkidd.
ReplyDeleteI think the rebuilding phase could actually help Rondo. He's already proven that he could run that team, but now that he's the man I think it'll help in areas such as his jumpshot as he obviously is gonna have to help out more offensively. So by the time they pick up guys and fill the team with more talent he will be that much more of a killer because in all honesty I think that's all his game is missing.
ReplyDeleteRondo cant even hit free throws but if he get a jumper he will be the best pg in the game..hands down..but he a little overated to me now
ReplyDeleteSuper thug
