SLAM: What brings you down to Orlando?
Brandon Knight: I’m just practicing with the team and getting to know the younger guys. I’m not playing in the games, but it’s important to be a part of what’s going on down here.
SLAM: What are your impressions of the young guys so far?
BK: A lot the guys are working hard. They’re very athletic. They’re very excited for the type of team that they get to be apart of.
SLAM: You’re sitting next to your new head coach. What are you most looking forward to about playing under Mo Cheeks?
BK: I think he’s going to get the best out of our team. I think he’s going to find to motivate all of our players. I think that’s what will eventually push us to become a lot better and get to that next level.
SLAM: Obviously with the up-and-coming frontcourt of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe and now the recently signed Josh Smith, you guys have a really athletic team. Are you excited to play with that group?
BK: It’s going to be fun. I think we’ll have a really good group. It’s fun to be with a bunch of guys who are in good shape and can run up and down the floor. It’ll create a lot of easy baskets and open the game up a lot.
SLAM: Do you think your roster has the makings of a Playoff team?
BK: We’ll see what happens. We’re just going to come out and work hard and make sure we continue to improve each day. But we’re going to compete, that’s for sure. We’ll see what happens.
SLAM: Do you have any personal goals for yourself for next season?
BK: My main focus is on the team. I’m a point guard, so my job is to make sure my teammates are getting involved and we win.
