On Monta Ellis and Jose Calderon:
“Well you know, I played with Monta on Golden State so I’m very familiar with his game. He’s a really really fast player. He can slice up any defense. He’s a good mid-range shooter. He’s a good pick and roll player, which is always great for the offense we run. It’s the same with Jose. Jose is a high assist, low turnover guy. Last year, we struggled with turnovers at time. Over periods of the season, we would have 12 or 14 plus turnovers in a lot of games so having those guys here is brining more than anything, veteran leadership and guys that have been established in the league for a long time.”
On if he thought about signing with another team:
“It was free agency. You treat it like a job interview. You look around. You see what the best fit is for you. You take phone calls. You look at the X’s and O’s, and you make a decision. I thought the best decision for me was to go back to Dallas even though there were opportunities to go elsewhere. I think coming back to Dallas with the familiarity, the coaches, the guys we brought in and just being part of a great organization was the best thing for me.”
On why he believes the Mavericks decided to bring him back:
“I think I really fit the team. I think I fit what we want to be moving forward. Down the line, I think I can be a big time part of this team, and I’m looking forward to fighting to get back into the playoffs this year.”
