Rivers talks moving on

In what may turn out to be the biggest move of the off-season, Doc Rivers is officially the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers and today he shared some of this thoughts with veteran writer Jackie MacMullan of ESPN.
"I always knew when I took the job with Boston that I would love the Celtics,'' said Rivers. "I knew I would love the tradition and the players. But I had no idea how much I would fall in love with the city and the people in it. Honestly, I get emotional thinking about it. I will cherish every single moment I had in Boston.''

"It was just time,'' Rivers said. "I really don't think it would be fair to get into all of that right now. I made a decision to talk with all of the Boston media following my press conference with the Clippers (on Wednesday), and I will honor that....I'll explain it to everyone then. But to say I was dying to get out of Boston, dying to leave the Celtics is just wrong. That's not how it was. That's not how I felt.''
I don't know what made him leave. I guess it was the frustration of the imminent rebuild, but I'll always respect Doc. I'm thankful for the years he put in and the ring he gave us.
ReplyDeleteRumor is rondo...ray allen laughing his but off
DeleteI agree, Doc turned the team around and was great thru and thru. I honestly think it was because of Ainge and how he is always trying to "revamp" the team. I know he'd allow Doc to voice his opinion but would never let it hold water. It would make sense seeing the control Doc has with LAC now...
ReplyDeleteSo he had probably with the way his organization ran the team and jumped shipped...sounds familiar. Plus he was under contract and Ainge politely through him under the bus after complimenting him. I'm guessing the ring makes up for everything. I see the game as a business so I can't blame him but I'm already seeing a double standard.
ReplyDeletesmh u heat fans so sensitive to that shit and always tryin to compare there situation to others. doc's loyalty was to kg and pierce and ray allen not to the celtics organization. hes seeing they dont want to continue on with his guys so hes jumping ship too. i understand it, especially on pierce's end. he suppose to retire a celtic and if your not going to be loyal to him why would anybody else who played and won with him wanna stick around?
Deleteand i never made a big deal outa ray allen b4 somebody comes with the bs. allen played for about 5 different teams, been traded a couple times. i understood his loyalty to his family and himself. all i said is dont kick dirt on ya former teammates on ya way out the door if your so class personified as yall say
DeleteAgreed ^^^ ... Nobody would have given a shit if LBJ jumped ship if he would have done it like a proffessional, instead of making a circus show out of it and well -- making himself look like an asshole. Doc took time and did it quietly while continuing to help with off-season opetations. Am I a bit pissed being a C's fan -- absolutetly, but don't put Doc in the same category as princess james -- retarded! Doc = class and james = attention whore..
DeleteI'm a LeBron fan. Doc was under contract and forced his way out. LeBron was an unrestricted free agent but somehow it's unexceptable to go to another team when you've played out your contract and don't like the direction of the team.
Deleteexactly. niggas already knew lb needed 1 or 2 more superstars to get it done anyway. just surprised he had to go to another mans city. hell lbj was running the cavs organization smh
DeleteThat has nothing to do with Doc being under contract and leaving or the point I made.
Deleteneither does lbj. lbj made that decision. his fans need to get over it and stop comparing other people to wat he did
DeleteYeah but the biggest move they made was bringing in jamison for real no team no player ever couldve won a ship on that cavs team -lbj they were cheap as fuck
ReplyDeleteLebron was also under the fucking microscope from the whole season before he left to the point he made "the decision".... I'm an LA fan all day but the biggest name always gets the most attention and that means the most love/hate.. Now the thing lbj fucked up on was the not 2 not 3 speech because that just gave him a target on his back for the rest of the time he's in miami
