Rick Carlisle blasts O.J. Mayo

Some nights Dallas Mavericks G O.J. Mayo shows signs of greatness and other nights he simply disappears. His former team the Memphis Grizzlies grew tired of the act years ago and not it appears that the Mavericks have reached that point as well. After losing to the Grizzlies last evening, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle voiced his displeasure with Mayo.
“He wasn’t into it the first half,” Carlisle said. “We showed him some film at halftime where he was virtually just standing around defensively. We said, ‘Hey, we need you,’ tried to get him going a little bit.....He just had a bad night; I guess I will write it off to that. But I will tell you what, if I was playing against my former team, I’d come out ready to go at them. But that’s just me.”
“With all the time that we have put into helping him develop and bringing him along, for him, in the biggest game of the year, an opportunity to be a winning team, for him to show up like he did tonight I was shocked. Sometimes guys have bad nights so make sure and put that in there, too.”
“Look, he’s not the only guy who stunk tonight,” Carlisle said. “I stunk, too. I’ve readily admitted it all year. But I’m passionate about not wanting to stink. And that’s where I have trouble reconciling things.”
mavs need to realize mayo is wat he is....a 6th man
ReplyDeleteAnd who led all scorers in points at halftime. VINCE CARTER the sixth man he might be older but he gives his all every night. Just the other night VC had 20 pts 10+ rebounds and 7 assists. Its the end of the season put VC in the starting line up aint gonna hurt nobody Mavs already done.
ReplyDeleteIm a mavs fan and we need an upgrade in the backcourt. Collison and Mayo have been busts along with Kaman.
ReplyDeletecan't blame on him not everyone can deal with the scrutiny, pressure, hard work, dedication n sacrifice that come with being great...smh
ReplyDeletethey just don't make them like Kobe Bean Bryant!
