Dwyane Wade talks Championships, growing older

Once an NBA player matures past the wrong side of 30 whispers begin to emerge that they are "slowing down". Miami Heat G Dwyane Wade has certainly heard those whispers this year but he is shooting over 50% from the field for the first time in his 10 year career and recently he spoke of what a 3rd championship would mean for him and also growing older in the league he loves.
"I feel like I need three rings. After that, I'm playing with church's money," Wade told The Associated Press. "I've always said that if I can end my career with at least three rings ... I've already had a special career, but it would put me in that special group that only a few can say that they're in. It would mean a lot. It would mean a lot. It would mean a lot."
"I mean, let's talk about the obvious," Wade said. "Guys get older. That's obvious. Yes, I've gotten older. Yes, my game has changed. But let's talk production. I'm a productive player. My numbers show it. I buy into the efficiency numbers - more than I should and it drives me crazy that I buy into it. I look around the league and see guys shooting 41 percent and they're getting patted on the back. I'm shooting 52 percent and I'm on the decline?......This is the life that I choose. Sometimes it's frustrating because I know I've got more, but team success is way more fulfilling than the individual. I've totally changed my game. I tried to do it for what I feel is the best for this team. Was it the best for me individually? Maybe not. But I did what I think is best for this team."

True baller never feared nun. My favorite players him & the real goat MJ.
ReplyDeleteI feel you on that. When i saw the '06 finals i couldnt believe the game & heart this dude has got. One of the illest ballers of all time in my opinion.
DeleteBy the way preach, im not a heat fan. Stop the hate & start to appreciate homie. I hope the lakers can make some noise without kobe
lol tried it. heat fans aint having it
DeleteWithout Bron the dude could easily average 28 a night.
ReplyDeleteI can't see another scoring superstar taking a backseat for team success like Wade has done. But he's different in the playoffs. He's more 1B than 2 bc he knows that's where your legacy is made. Stay healthy and humble so number 3 will be a reality.
ReplyDeleteI agree makes me respect him that much more
DeleteAnthony. dident the celtics draft allen iverson?
ReplyDelete1st pick by the Sixers in 1996
ReplyDeleteno i mean. now. i heard. they got A.I. my mistake. for. the draffting part lol... but i heard. they. picked him up
ReplyDeletehaha no problem, to my knowledge they haven't yet and if they were to think about it, today would be the last day they could do so.
ReplyDeleteonly if kobe learned this like d wade. hed prlly be healthy and lakers would have been better then the joke they were
ReplyDeleteor he could have less than 5 rings and just b a avg sg and not b the greatest of all time
DeleteIf he didn't have shaq he would have the same amount of rings as wade so gtfoh with that
Deleteand how many times this nigga gonna cry about his role? we get it d wade! u took less money and turn ya team and your town over to a guy who's even a more a bigger bitch than u. now deep down inside wade feels like a sucker but at the sametime he know he would never get on kobe's level so he went and recruited guys to get rings. wade know damn well he hates being overshadowed by lb and he knows he took the easy way out so hes gonna keep cryin for credit for wat he did just to make him feel better about yhe whole thing.
Deleteand u know damn well that man wont b satisfied with 3 rings....he grew up n the chi watchin mj but hey everybody cant b like kobe and mj. i give him credit for recognizing that!
and if shaq didnt have him he would still b kissin wades ass for that 1! o i give wade credit for that too
Deleteshaq played with lb, wade, nash, penny and more....only 1 without kobe?
You just typed a whole lot of nothin....ain't nobody readin that shit
DeleteIf Kobe woulda stayed with the Hornets, I imagine him having a career like Melo's or AI's. The Lakers buy championships. That's why the league is raising taxes like the government.
Deletelike the heat right?
DeleteTalkin a lot of shit there Preach! You wasn't doin all that last weekend when I saw you at the spot with Heat tennis shoes and red skinny jeans
