You gotta use better examples than that. Think about Cleveland getting the 1st and 4th pick the year after Lebron leaves. Chris Paul's trade to the Lakers getting vetoed. Imagine CP3, Kobe and D12. Then the Hornets getting the number 1 pick the year after. The league needs the Lakers to make the playoffs so watch the officiating in their games, Jazz games and Mavs games down the stretch to see if some calls are suspicious(non call on Rubio at the buzzer). Tbh I'd rather see the Lakers at number 8 than any of the other teams fighting for it.
