Reports are indicating that in another cost cutting move, the OKC Thunder have had discussions with the Phoenix Suns about the availability of Marcin Gortat. The Thunder are looking to trade away Kendrick Perkins and/or Eric Maynor.
Wow. Gortat is a better overall center but perk's impact cant b seen n a stat sheet. I think okc is taking risk if they make that move, it could affect there chemistry and there identity. And okc should have thought of this b4 trading james harden or maybe they shouldve just traded westbrook! My second fav player to watch but they wouldve got more for westbrook, i believe
I always thought Harden was better than Westbrook and a better fit with KD. I like this trade for OKC. Idk if their locker room is feeling this but they need a low post scoring threat in the payoffs.
i agree with preach. his impact is not shown on the stat sheet..... gortst might be better... but hes not tuff ahresve like perk... n thats what okc needs. some one to bully players in the post
They didnt want to trade harden but they cudnt afford him n they didnt want to lose him n get nothing in return. It was smart on their part. As for perk hes a liability. Okc is too one dimensional. Tho hes great on the def end okc plays 5 on 4 at the off end. Gortat aint the answer dont think its a big drop off. Gortat can bang hell give u more on offense n he plays def
Idk. I just feel like the teams identity changed for the better when they got perk. They went from being 1 of them boring up down west coast teams too a physical, grinding out, east coast type team. Even tho gortat a better scorer hes not gonna give the duncans, jeffersons, blake, d12 the same problems n the post that perk does. Perk, gortat it dont matter okc is still going to b a team that lives or dies by the jumpshot
And the westbrook harden thing. Right now its very debatable who the better player is but at the time they traded harden westbrook had more value. Maybe they couldve got a better big then along with a servicable pg to replace westbrook
For the playoffs this year I think it is a good fit. If they are in the win now mentality then they should do it. Perkins would play better d against the big quality centers in the league but none of them are looking like much of a threat this year. Howard may not even be in the playoffs. Bynum isn't going to be there. No Cousins. And if the Heat make it to the finals agains, as do the thunder then Gortat could equal trouble for the Heat to defend. The biggest gamble I see is if the Pacers make it to the finals. Perk would be better at d against Hibbert than Gortat would.
No offense but I woule choose Perk or Gortat over Brook Lopez any day. Unless you got confused and meant his twin brother Robin. Sure Brooke can score and he is having a better defensive year. But he still has a long way to come in terms of defense and rebounding.
This move is not helping the suns out at all.... GotaT is a valuable socorer for this organization. Maynor is a good back up point guard but the suns have kendall marshall give him more pt. And lets see what he can do.... he is a true pg. And perk would bring toughness but no scoring. I think the thunder are better off letting westbrook go, bring up jeremy lamb, and your able to put more players around kd
I agree they are taking a risk by dealing Perk they will be losing that low post presence and maybe a loss of chemistry, but I think the risk could also potentially work in there favor these playoffs and in the long hall. Gortat has proven to be a presence in the post offensively and although maybe not as big of a body as Perkins down low he still blocks shots and rebounds. I think hee be a nice match with Ibaka. Also Gortat still being young and playing on a great team could open his untapped potential, where as Perkins we've seen what he can do and shows no signs of adding to his game.

I would not trade perk for gortat. Perk is younger n more physical player. Now for brook lopez that i would do.

Hell yeah! Perkins is terrible on offense. All teams has to do is double off of him. That's why da heat are so good. Everybody can score on offense.
