Q: How are things going for you in Charlotte?

A: It has been good, definitely closer to home [Myrtle Beach, S.C.]. We started off and hit a tough spell. It reminded me of what we did in Cleveland a couple years back. But it's a young team. Everybody's excited. Nobody's down. We'll be fine.

Q: Having gone through the 26-game losing streak in Cleveland, were you able to help the Bobcats through the recent 18-game losing streak?

A: I'm definitely the veteran now in those situations. I definitely was able to help the guys. In Cleveland, we lost a few more than we did here. But we kept our heads up and, like in Cleveland, we came to work every day. Same thing here. We knew it [a victory] was coming sooner or later.

Q: Your coach, Mike Dunlap, hadn't been a head coach in the NBA before. How has his adjustment been?

A: Anytime you're new to the NBA, you're going to have ups and downs. But he has been great. He has been consistent. He's been giving us the same message day in and day out. I think it's good for a young team. He's always positive, and I think that's good for us.

Q: Are you surprised at everything happening with the Lakers, where you finished last season?

A: In a way. The talent they have, I definitely was surprised the way they started off and was definitely surprised they fired coach [Mike] Brown, who was a great coach, five games into an 82-game season was kind of tough.

Q: How are your rookies, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist [No. 2 pick] and Jeff Taylor [No. 31] doing?

A: They're doing good. The young fellas, Gilchrist and Taylor, they're growing as the games go, and they've been playing well for us. They've been big for us. They're the reason we've been winning some games.
