The Boston Celtics are struggling at head coach Doc Rivers isn't happy about it. The Celtics, 20-20, suffered their third consecutive loss last evening and Doc Rivers took to the media to sound off on his team and their poor performances.
"I said we’ve got to find something where every night all 12 guys play the same,” Rivers said. “We did it for three games in a stretch. I told them game four and five in that (six-game winning streak) was garbage, we just won the game. So I gotta figure that out. I don’t think the guys are honest with each other. I just don’t think we have committed to being a good basketball team. I think this team wants everything easy. They want the easy way out. They want to win easy. I told them, the only way you’re going to win easy is you’re gonna have to play hard. The harder you play the easier the games become. We’re taking the approach.”
“I gotta either find the right combination, the right guys or we’re going to get some guys out of here,” he said. “It’s the bottom line, because this group right now, they’re not playing right and it’s in them to play right but right now they haven’t been because I’m not getting to them or they’re not getting to each other. Either we gotta do that or we gotta make changes. I’m saying if we don’t get it right we may (make changes). The six-game winning streak was great. Three of those games we played tremendous basketball. The other three we won the game.”

Doc has seen Mike Brown, Avery Johnson and Alvin Gentry(with dignity) get fired. They all have something in common and Doc is trying to avoid that trend and save his job. The coach always takes the blame when a team loses. They're just not the same without Allen. Terry and his tattoo have been a joke this season. Good luck Boston fans.
ReplyDeleteIt's as if when Ray left, the locker room mood suffered. They're playing like they've given up. I definitely don't want to see Doc leave. If they don't learn to clean their shit up, he's going to get shafted.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way doc will get fired. I can gaurantee his job is safer than the rosters jobs. If he does get fired, expect pierce and garnett to end there contracts early.
ReplyDeleteYeah I don't doc well get fired he's a great coach its the players and they're gonna trade in the deadlline for sure..
ReplyDeleteI cant believe somebody even said doc might get fired. Big difference between doc and the rest of the coaches that got fired already this year is doc has been to 2 finals and won 1. That holds weight and even if not hes still 1 of the best coaches ive ever seen coach.
ReplyDeleteNormally, I'd agree with you, but I'm keeping a cautious optimism. Losing streaks make management make bad decisions. And firing Doc is at the top of bad decisions.
DeleteYeah but all they need is another big body in my opinion. Celtics had to adjust to playing kg at center last year because of all the injuries they had last year and i think because they came within 1 game of the finals last year that they thought they could get away with it during a 82 game season. But they will make a trade and get going u gotta remember there record was about the same about this time last year and its the eastern conference, all they gotta do is get n and avoid mia n the first round
DeleteI agree completely. Here's hoping we can net a decent big by the deadline.
DeleteI agree we need a change, but how do you expect these guys to play when you got punk ass Ainge stirring up trade rumors every other day. I love my C's but Ainge needs to go....
ReplyDeleteThe NBA is a business of winning. If you don't win then you get replaced. So if the Celtics become a losing team, Doc WILL get fired. It's up to the organization to bring in the right mix of players. Doc is using the media to put fire under his players asses before the fire gets put under his. He might be my favorite coach and one of the best doing it right now but wins equal job security.
ReplyDeleteI think preach addressed this but yea the c's need a solid big man. Rondo, kg and pierce are still good and can produce numbers but maybe drafting or trading for a good defensive big man would spark something. They have a solid bench with loads of shooters so I don't see what's wrong besides that.
