Bobcats release statement concerning possible switch to Hornets

Now that the New Orleans Hornets will officially transformed into the New Orleans Pelicans next season, the Hornets name/logo which originated in Charlotte is in limbo.  There's been a grass roots effort in recent months based around the Bobcats reclaiming the name of the Hornets and Bobcats owner Michael Jordan even stated a few months ago that he would entertain the thought.  Below is a statement that the Bobcats released regarding the availability of the Hornets.

“We are aware of the impending change regarding the team nickname in New Orleans. We are currently in contact with the NBA and conducting our own due diligence relative to this matter. We will not have any further comment until we have completed this process.”
