A few hours below Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony went off and dropped 45 points on the Brooklyn Nets, Nets star Deron Williams spoke at length to the media about Anthony and how he feels that Anthony should be considered the MVP of the NBA thus far.

“He's having an MVP year across the board, the way he's playing, the way he's carrying that team,” Williams said “You can see he was definitely focused for the Olympics, and it has carried over....[Carmelo] is one of those players where he's gonna get his points,” Williams said. “It's tough to stop him.....I've gone up against ‘Melo probably 30 times in my career now ... I don't know how many times we've stopped Melo. I don't know if that's possible. You can try to contain him, you can try to make him work hard for his shots at both ends of the floor, and hope he has an off night....He hasn’t struggled in the playoffs, but his teams have tended to struggle in the playoffs, and I think he's disappointed in that, knowing the competitor he is, and he wants to lead that team to a championship. Like I said, he's playing at a highest level right now,” Williams said.
