Magic Johnson talks Nash

With the return of Steve Nash imminent, the Lakers faithful are eagerly awaiting to see their team operate at full strength for the first time this season. Recently NBA great and former face of the Lakers franchise Magic Johnson spoke of the leadership that Nash could bring to the team.
"They need a leader out there. They need a floor leader, and Steve Nash is one of the greatest that's ever done it in terms of point guard," Johnson said. "I think the point guards that the Lakers are having now, they are so inconsistent and then they don't know how to really lead the guys. But when Steve comes back, he can do that....[Nash] will make [Pau] Gasol better and Dwight Howard better. He knows how to work the pick and roll; he's a master at the pick and roll. So I think he'll give them a lot of easy buckets. And then I think the team will feel better about themselves and I think they need that right now, and probably make Coach D'Antoni's job a lot easier, as well."

Yeah people keep saying nash aint going to defend nobody...hell chris duhon aint been defending nobody neither. It can only get better

ReplyDeleteIt will get better. But is that going to be good enuf to win a ship. In my opinion no. Like I've been saying from the jump ur head coach is the weak link. Regardless of having Nash or not ur offense shud match the ability of ur roster. N they r too old n too slow to be running up n down like Dan wants them to. N Kobe is playing lights out right now but we've seen this before esp late in his career. He runs out of gas in the playoffs

DeleteAnd tryin to defend d'antoni again but when i watch the games i dont c the lakers running up and down taking quick shots the whole game. The only problems i c with offense is turnovers and shooting to many 3's and nash will help fix that because u know hes gonna get n the paint and feed the bigs. People complain about where pau is positioned on the court when him and d12 r playing together but thats to provide spacing which helps kobe and turnover proned dwight. With the ball n nash hands u will c wat the buss's were thinking when they hired d'antoni...a free flowing offense thats not kobe or bust every game. U probably right about the ship tho cause i cant front the only way i c them beating okc is if they make a trade for a player who can atleast slow down westbrook or k.d. n a 7 game series

DeleteI don't think the number of 3s r going to change. Dans offense is all about the long ball. N if pau keeps playing out of position there is no point for him to b on the floor. I think pau shud b the main guy in the pick n roll it will keep him involved n it Wud put extra pressure on the defense. Cuz u have to play his jumpshot n who do u help off of. I really do wanna see what they do.
ReplyDeleteI agree he should b the main guy because of his passing . Thats wat he brings to that offense and he will get his touches n the paint when dwight is off the floor....if hes aggressive enough which is pau's main problem to me, not the offense. I think pau can make the adjustments if he want it bad enough. Its on him whether he gets traded or not
DeleteYeah pau would b better rolling to the basket on that pick and roll because his decision making, he will make the right pass if the defense collapses n the paint.
