NBA Commissioner David Stern will step down on February 1st of 2014. That date is significant as it will mark Stern's 30th year anniversary as commissioner.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat!!! R u serious, he was the worst! U know how many people hate his guts... No one in the league cant say shit cause he was fining owners and coaches and players for no aparently reason, oh how bout the chris paul block, how funny that new orlans had the first round pick after he sold the franchise, that guy is the worst commisioner of any sports!
Lol ... im with jay... the dress code to keep the hood outof the nba... giving refs to much control of the game and players, now can give players teck fouls for celebrating too much after a basket... changing the big man post rules starting with the shaq ... d howard is dealing with it now... offence of foul every time they r in da paint... turnig big men into jumpshooters... this is not the WWF... its basketball... jermaine is happy to see david go... just hope whoever fills his shoes dont follow his foot steps...
As far as spreading the game and the popularity of it, the game was basically known in the U.S. He made it world wide. Since the 80s the game has been getting better known over seas, just this past decade it has made incredible strides. That's thanks to him, yeah he has set many fines but NBA is a profession and it wasn't being treated like it, might be more entertaining perhaps without some of the fines. Just gotta look at the big picture I guess and what it has done internationally
I agree with both jay and that Harry guy. Hes done alot for the game but im sure alot of people will b glad hes gone but at the sametime wat makes people think anything is gonna change under the new guy?
The best/longest serving commissioner the nba has seen, he has set a nice road for Adam Silver to follow. Hope he can do a nice job as well
