I agree in over 20yrs of people getting robbed, beaten, and in some cases murdered over the Jordan brand of shoes Michael Jordan could have done more. I never heard of do much as a statement from him personally on the issue. We all know how much young people look up to him if he would have done 1 commercial pleading with youth to not rob and kill over his shoes I may feel different but the fact is he never did, in fact he reaped the benefits from others pain. I feel if he put a cap on the price of his shoes he would set a president for the rest of the world and probably make more money too. I think if he set the cap at $99 it would end all the foolishness over some shoes.

I agree the problem is bigger then MJ but he started the shoe issue so he should play a part in fixing it. Jordan came out with the 1st pair of $100+ athlete shoes which at the time was double the price of the average shoe. He set the standard for professionals endorsing athletic shoes so I don't blame the other people for the price of their shoes I blame MJ for setting the price so high. People will always kill for expensive things they feel like they can't get on their own like cars, jewelry, etc.... Jealousy is a hell of a drug, its been like that since the beginning of time but something always were relatively reasonable in price and athletic shoes were one until MJ changed that. He didn't make us as a society this screwed up but this article was about shoes and he is solely responsible for

Mj get his cut but not 100% . Further Mr Jordan does plenty on communities as both an ex player & franchise owner. The shoe game is a business, like any other profitable enterprise, they try to maximise profit. So of the Dick heads here spent more time in class, not only would the spell better, they would understand, sport shoes are a high margin industry if marketed well. ReplyDeleteWell first off i dont think itss the price pount on the jordans that causes the problem its the limited availability...they only put out so many pair of each retro jordan shoe (which is what everybody is going crazy over) but they do this so that they can keep the shoes relevant and bring them back out at a later date to make more money overtime and keep tje jordan brand legacy alive....but people are fighting to get in the mall and get theirs before their size is gone and they are having all these extr altercations due to the lack of availability...hence the law of supply n demand but if NIKE not JORDAN would put out more shoes rather than basically trying to make every shoe a limited edition there would be a tremendous drop in the number of violent occurences that happen behind this shoe...now as far as the lebrons go nike has put out that his shoe will retail at 180 the ones that everyone keeps referring to that will retail for 300 has some extra technology that comes with it like the nike+ technology n some kinda technology that calculates how high u jump or some bs like tht but as a consumer u have a choice i mean 180 without or 300 with the technology but its practically gonna be the same shoe i can see 300 if its gonna do all that...im not gonna pay for it but i could see it selling at that price...at the end of the day i dnt think u blame the players for price points or what happens behind their shoes ultimately i think its the shoe companies for not putting out more shoes so eveeyone that can afford a pair can get a pair and society for making it so important to have that you would kill and fight for it just to look cool.
