Miami Heat guard/forward Mike Miller was considering retirement during the NBA Finals and after a Heat victory, Miller considered back surgery. After taking it easy during the off season, Miller is finally ready to start a season on time for the Heat. This week Miller began training with the Heat at their practice facility and recently spoke to the media about his current state.
"I basically looked at my options and back surgery, with Dr. Green pretty confident that we could get it to where I need to be without it. So we're slowly but surely getting there......My body feels good. Like I said, we've just got to be smart about it......It's a long haul," he said. "Like we found out the last two seasons, you've just got to make sure you're smart about it early.....It feels good. It's getting there," he said. "Obviously, I've got to get my legs back. Stationary shooting feels fantastic, really. The break probably helped that. But moving and shooting, movement with your legs, and conditioning has been a little bit tough."

What a idiot they been telling him he needs back surgery for yrs now and he keeps pushing it off and coming back talking about how great he feels then plays 12games and starts saying he needs back surgery again. If i were Miami i would have used my amnesty clause on him if he doesn't have the surgery he is no help in a suit sitting behind the bench. Hell Eddie Curry probably played in more games then he did. Both are stupid-cocky beyond belief. but I guess Heat fans should have bragging rights for now. putting aside all the rediculous statements made here, I will say the heats bench is technically better, and they're coming off a champion ship. miller isnt great but he can shoot. so saying they're going to bench him til game 5 is stupid. most likely, like last year the heat coach is going to play the hot players from practice, whoever is shooting the best will get playing time. miller has been a long minutes guy for a long time, he was just hit that game. And live by the 3 die by the 3 really preach, the 3 is a very important part of the game but u can't put that tag on the heat, Bosh James and wade aren't great from 3 and didn't take many last year, actually career lows for all 3. they just got hot from 3 in OKC. and let's not forget Dallas who beat MIA the year b4 for the championship in one of the best 3 pt displays I've ever seen, they were lights out. usjust like every sport winning it all will be about who gets the hottes late. MIA might not have even been there without lebron and Bosh getting hot and closing out BOS, then the shooters getting hot in the finals. both teams are very talented and should make for grey matchups. Bosh is considering playing the 5 again, and lebron islikely to play pf, leaving chalmer, and wade. and either lewis Allen or Battier at the 3. That's a scary team. LQ has veterans and grqt talent as well, but unfortunately more question marks. anything can happen, and the whole Howard thing makes next year very exciting.
