Free agent guard/forward Tracy McGrady visited the Spurs earlier this week in an attempt to find work before training camps begins. The 7 time All-Star is seeking a guaranteed contract and is scheduled to visit the Knicks for a workout today.
Yea its sad. Tmac was one of the most talented players I've ever seen. Complete game both in n out n at both ends. Was a more polished player then kobe coming out of hs
U know ima have to slightly disagree with u on that yak. Cause kobe was a allstar his second year while I remember t mac as a mostly raw and athletic out h.s, no jumper and riding the pine behind his cuz vinsanity for the first year and a half. then he had a break out year the next year n toronto b4 signing with the magic his 4th year and his smooth jump shot came outa no where. Hes still 1 of the most talented players to play this past decade and I dont think hes done I think he will play a role sumwhere this season and surprise sum people. I think lakers could use him for more depth but as a laker fan id rather have barbosa and his quickness if that happens.
You should get your yak straight you made a okay point but have the stats straight let me guess you started watching NBA in 2003. Kobe was a all-star in he's 3rd year, where as tmac in he's 4th. tmac won he's scoring titles while Kobe was living off of shaq, yeah Kobe had 81 but tmac had 62 before Kobe and iverson. if not for health its a good debate he could have had similar stats as Kobe except not as much as championships. I think if Mac was healthy he would have had 1 ring and MVP but health killed him during the condsidration if MVP during rockets 22 game win steak. and another thing stop always arguing about a player with another player when there not even mentioned in the article.
kobe was allstar starter his second year n the league. Look it up! The 2 year difference is because of the 99 lockouted shortened season. And he brought up kobe
I dont get why there is such a huge tmac fad all over the internet. He was great but not on the level you guys put him at. Only shot 40%, for his size thats bad. Couldnt work with an offence, ball always stopped in his hands. Barely paid attention on defense. Young tmac would have gotten a carmelo type career, not a kobe one.
T mac was awesome but not a kobe type, kobe is on a jordan level, tmac didnt show promise until he went to orl, he was great in toronto but he was just athletic, he was a leader in orl, kinda took over after penny, but neither were the type of player that could carry a team, kobe in the other hand is an assasin like jordan, even douh kobe didnt explode after his second year he went nuts out of nowere. made me wonder how great he would of been if he started his first 2 years
He averaged mj numbers, something that kobe has never done. Even if it was just for one year and its hard to take your team all the way when your the only one. Like the game he dropped 62 or 63 can't remember which one it was but they still lost the game. How does a player drop 60+ and y'all still lose? His best sidekick was yao ming but other great players get great sidekicks.....mj had scottie...lebron has dwade....kobe has paul gasol, steve nash, dwight howard and had shaq to win him his 3 rings lol
U just said it tho. Kobe had better teams around him so of course its easy for t mac to put up them numbers that he did. kobe avg 35 after shaq left and b4 they got gasol. Thats YOUNG mj type numbers. Shit 81
I use to watch the games live when he first came to the NBA. TO had a team when both Carter n Max were young. TMac was an up and coming new talent but then he just went south he left TO when we just got coach Wilkens blew up in Orlando after one call and kicked the ball. Houston he was on his A game he help them with that huge win streak but now... the dude is nt the same. this should be his last year in the NBA cuz he isn't helping any team win anything. -M
Was that toronto's decision to let him walk or did he just wanna go make a name for himself else where? Either way I think they shouldve tried to make it work n toronto.
When he played for Atlanta the past season he was averaging like 8pts when he came off the bench..idk if that's helping his case or hurting but I know it 2k he starts for me out of respect...him n stackhouse on ATL!!! Lol
im not tryingbtobdisrespect t mac but I say he should just retire. If he does he'll have a greater chance on makin the hall of fame and id love to see that.
Some of you need to educate yourselves. Bottom line, McGrady had so much potential in his career and those injuries are going to keep him from what could have been a hall of fame career. As for the person who thinks he was no good for having a 40% career percentage, look back and see what he had to work with. During his wonder years is truly when teams basically had one star and highly productive role players. He was 1st, 2nd, and even 3rd option every player. He was given an enormous amount of pressure. Having made to play through some of those injuries that he had, screwed him in the long run. Grant hill is one of very few exceptions. This guy has some pride issues, but no where on the level of A. I., but he has accepted that he is no longer that player anymore. He could have been good in Atlanta, but coach kept changing his mind and couldn't figure out what he wanted to do. So McGrady fell to the side as expendable. When he had opportunities to play for a considerable amount of time, he was more than adequately productive given his current skill set level. He can still do that now, but has to be for a team that can provide that type of opening for him. Although more than likely, very few contenders would have that space or take a chance playing with fire like that.
I know cats wasn't watching Tmac. Cuz when he first came out he was busting ass. He was all over the court n he always had a jumpshot. He left toronto cuz he wasn't getting major mins. Not sure why cuz it sure wasn't his play. N yea outta hs he was a more polished player then kobe. Kobe just had a great team around him making up for alot of his mistakes. Tmac never had that. The only decent team he was on was the rockets. But by then his back was shot n yao ming was constantly hurt.
N when i compare to kobe im only talking about their first year in the pros. N who ever said Tmac wasn't an assassin is bugging. U obviously weren't watching.
There first year? Yea kobe was on a more talented team but t mac was on a 1 and done playoff team so why wasnt he gettin more minutes if he was more polished? Kobe was a allstar STARTER every since his second year jay. That 2 year difference is because it was no allstar game n 99. But anyway I dont even think t mac avg more than 8 points a game his second year so im still not understanding how was he more polished? Kobe starting on the allstar team after takin the starting job from eddie jones (who was a good player) his second year says more about kobe and his game earlier n his career than anything the lakers did as a team! mayb yak is thinkin bout that airball kobe shit as a rookie against utah n the playoffs but that dont make t mac a more polished player as a rookie and I agree toronto should have gave t mac more time regardless but he wasnt getting it for sum reason. Mayb because they thought him and v.c. couldnt play together but it is wat it is
And I remember t macs first year n orlando. It was him and grant hill but hill started off the season injured and really never got back that season. T mac carried that team and did more than wat people expected and the biggest surprise to his game that year was his jumper. Not his defense, which was and still is better than wat sum of these guys give him credit for
Nah preach. He avg more rebs a game blocks assist had less turnovers. Shot a better fg % they both avg about 8pts. N kobe took alot more shots them him. That's what im talking about. 2nd yea kobe stats got better but he got more playing time then Tmac toronto didn't manage him properly
Yea t mac avg about 8 his second year not kobe. Not sure wat neither them avg as rookie but i know kobe was on all rookie team, t mac...i dont think so. Like i said kobe took his spot on the lakers. T mac didnt even crack the starting line up until his 3rd season again on a young team that barely made the playoffs
I was comparing their rookie season. Like I said mac was the more polished player. N if u go to the 2nd year. Kobe avg 15 mac 10. Still shot better from field n kobe got more mins n fga. Can't remember tho. It was either macs 2 or 3 season the league had a lock out tho
Mac n Vince played the same position. That prolly contributed to the lack of playing time. Esp at the time when vince cudve hosted his own top 10 plays on sc every night. Like I said they didn't manage him well. That's a big reason y kobe is who he is today. He had a winning franchise who knew what they were doing. Can't say the same for toronto. N im not sure kobe wud b the player he is today if he didn't go to the Lakers.
Let the man play, had he been given the health kobe has who knows what his talents could have matured into. If I was betting I would say very close or same game as kobe. Why Is that so hard to believe, Tmac was an assassin. Wih good health & help we'd be having a completely different conversation believe that.
O yea no doubt. But I cant agree t mac was a more polished player than kobe comin n. That just doent make since to me. Everybody knows kobes pops played n the nba, back and forth overseas and a mega star n philly h.s. so everybody knows kobe was gettin prepared for the nba his whole life and if anybody believes he wouldnt b the player he is today if he didnt go to the lakers is foolin they self! That mans dedication and drive made him wat he is today and he still would b the next closest thing to mj if he played for the hornets. And once again kobe has been a allstar starter every since his second year n the league. Look it up and u will c that that 2 year difference in between allstar appearances and the amount of years he played is because of the strike shortened seadon n 99
Hey preach, what if Kobe wasn't traded from charlotte ,would he off lead them to rings and the promised land with the hornets? I doubt it,he needs a top 5 center to clean up his stupid shot selection with rebounds and his poor discipline on D..I wish Kobe was drafted by Vancouver,he'd be serving burgers from white castle by 2000 but he got lucky and rode the coatails of shaq when he's ego finally realised what he had at he's disposal down low..those airballs is all ill remember Kobe by as that shows his mentality of being a hero first and use your teammates 2nd! I mean it was only the unstoppable force named shaq he was reluctant to pass to,does that mean kobes basketball IQ coming in was that of a dumbass? Kobe will never win another without Phil Jackson's triangle and he ain't comin back to coach, bring on this year and the most overpaid roster in pro sports the Lakers choke it up while OKC and Durant show ya how its done in the west..and help tmac will make any team better,he knows his limits but his court smarts will help any team,he can still direct like point forward when need be.
lol u obviously a kobe hater. I may not like lebron but atleast i dont tell lies on him. How did kobe make the all defensive first team 8 or 9 times by having poor discipline? Lol wat a joke and shaq admitted he wouldve won shit without kobe and that miami team was stacked! So wateva u just admitted u havent got over them 2 airballs anyway and i admit it took me a minute to get over them 2. I was pissed when he took the starting job from eddie jones the very next season so i understand. And i agree with u about t mac i wasnt trying to down him n anyway.
Preach allatar means nothing. Its a popularity contest. N I don't think kobe wud b the same player if he didn't go to the Lakers. U talking his physical ability im talking mentally psychologically. He grew up fast player for the Lakers n he had vets to put him in his place. Wudnt have happened on the hornets. But I still think mac was better all around when he came out.
Lol ok if u feel that way but history has provin the guys who make a allstar team there 1st or 2nd year usually go on to b great. But I c wat u sayin if he wouldve remained a hornet mayb the progression wouldve been slower but I think his mentality wouldve eventually pushed him to b great but mayb not as fast like u said. And u not gonna get no arguement from me about t mac being a better all around player especially n his prime
Time to hang up the jersey buddy. what a sad end to an injury plagued career
ReplyDeleteNo way he's still a better option than so many other mediocre doods, hang up the jersey so he can start knitting sweaters?
ReplyDeleteHe coulda easily been a Kobe of the nba if it wasn't for all his injuries.
ReplyDeleteHe was better then more then half of the dudes from the usa team
ReplyDeleteYea its sad. Tmac was one of the most talented players I've ever seen. Complete game both in n out n at both ends. Was a more polished player then kobe coming out of hs
