Barkley fires off on Knicks, praises Nets

Love him or hate him, Charles will be Charles. While speaking recently on the Atlantic Division, Charles Barkley again fired off on the Knicks' pairing of Carmelo Anthony and Amar's Stoudemire.
“It’s not going to work, and it’s not going to click,” Barkley said of the All-Star pairing. “I’m not a believer that a leopard can change its spots....They’re both very good offensive players — Carmelo is a great offensive player, Amar’e is a very good offensive player. But I don’t think all of a sudden they’re going to become great rebounders and great defenders...They don’t rebound the ball well and they’re not a good defensive team,” Barkley said, adding that he wasn’t a good defender himself. “ I really think that’s going to be their downfall....I don’t foresee them getting better, to be honest with you,” he said.
“I told somebody the other day, they were telling me about the Knicks getting Camby and Kidd. I said, ‘I love that (move) ... if it was 2000.’ I’m not so sure that I like it in 2012,”

On the Brooklyn Nets
“I think they are the best team in New York,” he said, calling Brook Lopez and Kris Humphries “underrated...I think Joe Johnson is going to be huge in Brooklyn, because he’s more of a role player,” Barkley said. “The problem he had in Atlanta was they expected him to be the best player. The best player (in Brooklyn) is Deron Williams. So I really think that they’re the best team in New York.”
About the Knicks' Off season moves

Shumpert can guard the other teams best perimeter player, tyson can defend the rim. Whos the nets best perimeter defender gerald wallace? He aint wat he use to b and i think charles forgot that lopez and hump r not the best 1 on 1 defenders there self. I like the nets and d will too but n.y. pride will not let them b better than the knicks this year. Charles just jumpin on that bandwagon like everybody else n n.y. but by the allstar break he will b eating his words as usual. Dude makes sum of the worst picks n sports. Hes the only guy been pickin the bulls to beat miami the last 2 years, he b trippen

Wtf r u talking bout...the Knicks haven't been prideful since Ewing was playing with Sprewell n Houston n the rest of em....the Knicks haven't been thought of since than n now their being tossed again BC as u can see they fucked it up again thinking Melo is the answer n now after 2 failed seasons rattled with injuries, power struggles, coaching issu,es n "linsanity" ur telling me the Knicks will be the better team out of NY BC of pride????? DeleteMelo is the problem in my eyes...didn't work in Denver n won't work in NY......unless he learns to round out his game instead of being so 1 dimensional... is it that hard to learn how to play defense n rebound????? Does he not make enough to add that to his game???
DeleteCharles is right, In my opinion Gerald Wallace is in better shape, then most of the guys picked up by NYK, "camby & kidd" were signed as "Injury Protection" and neither of these players "are what they used to be" if something goes badd for chandler or melo. You will see who carries that team. Its needs to be said that amare cant make shots for himself & melo has a hard time making shots for his Teammates. They play very different styles melo needs chandler. & amare needs a true point guard like he had in Steve Nash..
