Doc Rivers addresses the Ray Allen Defection

Speaking to the media recently, Celtics Head Coach Doc Rivers stated the following:
"I'm just disappointed; he should have stayed.....We recruited him just as hard (as Miami). We talked (after he agreed with the Heat). It was a good talk. You know how I am, when a guy makes his mind up, I am not going to try to change it. I respect him for all he did for us, but I thought he should have stayed with us....He had his reasons. I think emotionally he probably got bent sideways a little bit by us courting Kevin for some reason. I don't know honestly. Listen, he was great for us when he was here and that's all we can say for it. Clearly we would have liked him to stay with us. But I respect Ray and that will never go away."
Should have not benched him. And the recruited Terry. Basically showed him he is a third string. Boston screwed him repeatedly last year

ReplyDeleteI don't respect the decision at all, mind you he's comming from team he one his first ring in his career with and also the realationship he had with paul and kevin, forget about the whole rondo situation. He's done something only players that were hated in the NBA have done....left and signed with the RIVAL team, plus he did it for less money. I don't want to read this b.s about how the celtics are waashed up yadayadayada. They would have beat the heat if bradley was healthy and jeff green miami simply got lucky. But as for Ray I'm glad he's gone. No more arguments between him and rondo and we have money for better players. (Hence why kg has a fat paycheck)

I'm a celtics fan of course but its not even the face he left. The way he's doing it is wrong by just telling people the celtics didn't want him, he didn't want the celtics and that's it. Jason terry will do more damage to a team anyways, bringing back the championship defensive mantality is the best thing to do and jeff green avery bradley and jason terry are a perfect start.

ray allen is the best deep threat miami has now. he won't be running to get free fighting screens, he can just sit at the line and wist. miami needs shooters so it obsly was a.great pickup. don't forget last season ray had his highest 3 pt perctage ever. and if he only averages 10 to 12 a game that would be great bc nobody other than the big three was a double digit scoring. and ray with a healthy ankle is a good defender...unlike jason terry who plays no defense. its funny celtics fans.are whinning about ray when they just took jason terry from dallas. pretty similar situation, just not in the same.conference.

DeleteThe Heat met with Camby yesterday and with Rashard Lewis today. They aren't done signing yet. If they sign both, the Heat will be even better than last year. They will be at least 2 deep at every position. 3 deep if you count that LBJ can play and defend all five positions.

DeleteHonestly I'm not a fan of the heat at all, but lebrons been my favorite player since he stepped foot in the nba. lebron james is the whole reason the heat won the championship this year, without lebron the heat wouldn't have won. He's the best player stats wise and there's no debating it. But now to the ray allen situation I hate the way he did it and he's not right for doing I either, we didn't want to stay with boston he was already thinking about it before this point, he let his feelings about rajon rondo and how avery bradley will be starting get the best of him. What he doesn't understand is every nba players time comes where you have to let go. He doesn't want to, but I don't see why? Knowing the fact he's not starting in miami either. The celtics tried there best to get him back even by giving him more money but your gonna sit here and say if miami gotta deal for somebody like a nick young and first round draft picks for ray they wouldn't take it? Think about that...great bench scoring and eventual talent? sorry to burst your bubble but your reasoning for why ray left is wrong, simply put bc ray definatly won't be starting on the heat either. hell be coming off the bench just like he would have in boston next year. he left bc the heat promised he wud not traded, the celtics wouldnt make that offer. heat also offered him three years, which is want he wanted. celtics only offered two. ray wanted to be on a contender which insurances he wouldn't be traded. its well known celtics were shopping allen during the season, and he didn't like that. it had nothing to do with a blooming avery bradley. ray is a class act, who doesn't mind sacrificing for the betterment of the team, as here already proved. can't believe celtics fans disrespected, although I do understand why they r upset

DeleteHe left because of all the factors that surround the whole situation guy, avery bradley taking his starting job, tghe fact that him and rondo had problems throughout the season, and the reason that the NBA isn't a game its a business the celtics have to win like every other team trading him for better players and picks is what a team has to do if the heat need to get better they'll ship him off if the other team wants him for something good. Ray allen is a professional don't get me wrong I did like the guy, but he left the same way lebron left cleveland....by leaving a bad taste in the fans mouth and going to the RIVAL TEAM…you just don't do that. But he did what he did and its over I'm just saying the celtics will go farther than the heat next year.

DeleteBradley didn't take his job first off. He got injured and u obviously can't start just 4 people on the floor. Thankfully for the celts, Bradley turned out to be productive for them. Obviously when u have an injury, you are not going to be the same especially depending on the injury. I would have the same thing if I were in doc's shoes and kept Allen coming of the bench in a strong reserve or sixth man role if he could handle it. I think he came back a bit too soon and wasn't fully healed which actually might have regressed what he ream had going for them as far as the chemistry is concerned. And Allen is not a sell out. He has put the later end of his career into the celts and was able to get a title from it. They are not doing much to get a bit more youthful which can help stretch out minutes for the vets. KG is one of my most favorite player and is one bad ass celtic but I don't see another title in the near future. But who knows, I may be wrong but I would not pick them as a favorite to win.
